Josh & Jolene Custer own this big
red barn and flashy barn quilt!
The Snail's Trail (some call it
Virginia Reel) barn quilt in bright
yellow and orange was sponsored
by Dolores and Hugh Andrew.
They selected the image because
it is the design on the barn of
Donna Sue Groves, the founder
of this nationwide project.
The barn was started in 1930 and
completed in 1933. The lumber
was obtained form the trees on
the property. So far, four
generations of the family have
lived and worked the farm.
Location:
Bittinger Road (Route 495), south of
Glendale Road and just north of
O'Brien Road. The barn quilt is best
seen traveling south.
